CRETE. Phaistos. Circa 330-320 BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.57 g, 8 h). Herakles standing facing, resting his right hand on club set on ground and holding bow and lion skin in his left; to left, coiled serpent; to right, tree bearing the apples of the Hesperides. Rev. Bull walking to left, hobbled by long rope around its feet; all within laurel wreath. Jameson 1334. Le Rider Pl. 21, 20 (same dies). Svoronos, Crète, 13. Beautifully toned and unusually attractive. The obverse struck from a somewhat worn die as usual, otherwise, about extremely fine.
